keeping warm

Our rickety old stove died on Saturday... started pouring out lots of gas, but not much heat.

We called maintenance, they came, pronounced the appliance un-fixable, and brought us a brand new stove about half an hour later.
(a benefit of renting)

It's nice, very nice- it reminds me of the stove I left behind. It's been working hard for us since it's arrival- baking a little- but mostly boiling- or soup making.

When Matt and I were engaged I got a job at a soup restaurant. Ever since then I have had a deep love for soups of all kinds. And over Christmas break my brother who is currently in culinary arts school gave me some tips on good soup and broth making. So, with the winter well under way, the bleak and dreary cold settling in around us- there is no better time than now to pull out the big stock pots and cook us up some soup! A fantastic way to keep warm- I think.
