a good time
Our Memorial Day weekend was so very pleasant; nice, needed time to spend together and remember our loved ones.
Our first stop was the cemetery where we visited Matt's and my brothers' graves. We talked about our brothers with our kids who are so familiar with death for such little people. It's something they've seen in their short lives, and we openly discuss. It may seem a bit mature a topic for little kids, but it's been a very positive experience for us- and I am grateful for that. They have such a sweet, pure testimonies and understanding of death, our spirits and resurrection- it helps and inspires me.
Our next stop was the ranch where Matt's Grandparents live. We were able to relax, enjoy the open land, and fish!
This beautiful horse came right up to the fence and greeted us as we arrived. Beautiful creature!

Our two little ones enjoyed sitting and waiting for the fish to bite.
The boys went out early while us girls slept in a bit. By the time we got out there they had been fishing for almost two hours. The first catch of the day occured just after we arrived.
Zman was so very proud of his catch!
Matt and I were surprised at how brave our kids were- they sat right there and watched the fish being gutted and cleaned, and then even carried the fish in to the cooler!
And this is what you get when you combine a sunscreened face with dusty hands! We had a wonderful time, and the dirty faces and clothes to prove it!
Now we get back to work and get prepared for our summer of chaos!
