a new year

while I still have a bit of catching up to do with our end of 2011 festivities, I decided to get started on some of my hopes and plans for 2012.

2011 was a pretty good year- tough a lot of the time, though. I was working most of the year, juggling that, three kids, church callings, dance teaching, piano and art lessons, just the general chaos of life, and then a move, made for a pretty tiring year:) Good. But tiring.

At the end of the year I set out to making sure that 2012 was a year of more quality and less quantity. If you know me, you may be chuckling to yourself thinking- she doesn't even know how to do that- and you are right. But I am determined to figure it out! Honestly, I am not off to the greatest start with a mountain of goals I would love to set for myself, but I am trying, and if I only make baby step progress, well- it's progress all the same, right? I quit my job at the end of last year, and I decided not to teach the extra dance class I was looking into teaching- progress, right? I am currently working on deciding what goals are good for me to keep, and which ones are perhaps over the top. So, little by little I will be establishing some goals for myself, and should have some good things to work toward, by the end of this month:)

To start off, with my working last year, and then moving, and then the holidays, we have gotten a little too accustomed to eating out, and eating not the greatest food- delicious, yes- best choices for our bodies- not really. So, while probably most of America has made this a goal, I am aspiring to commit to healthier eating. I want to make the majority of our meals from scratch, and find ways to use new, nutritious and delicious produce in our meals.

These are already some favorites in our house, in fact our little Gibbs is an absolute avocado devourer. His food of choice is the avocado, and will just sit with half of one and a spoon, and consume the entire thing. It is really quite impressive! So I think we are on the right path, I just want to keep us in this direction, and expand some from here.

So, here is to a healthy and happy new year!
