time has flown

This poor blog has been neglected- not for lack of things to record, but rather a lack of time with so many great things going on!

The end of the school year came in a whirlwind of choir concerts, two dance performances, a Karate tournament, an opera, soccer games and a History Fair, in which Zman entered this beauty of a Pyramid.
Z had this idea to have a Pyramid with the mummy coming in and out of the entrance on its own.  Matt was able to talk him into a Pyramid that we could open to reveal the mummy inside, and then we also attempted to show the different rooms inside the Pyramid.  All in all Z was very satisfied, and Lu and Gibbs enjoyed their fair share of sugar cube sampling.

Z's class wrote, produced, created scenery for, costumes for, and then performed in a fantastic opera called "One Day in the Jungle".  Z was able to be a pirate, and worked tirelessly brainstorming and coming up with just the right idea for his costume that we then went about finding all the necessary parts for.

The dance recitals were lovely!  I actually performed in one with my pregnant belly, and then my little dancers did a terrific and incredibly adorable performance in our little end of year show- consisting of two dance pieces and lasting 10 minutes- couldn't be better for an audience full of little dancers and families!

Z saw some definite progress in his soccer skills this year.

Gibbs and Lu were cute little supporters on the side lines.

I have been finding little Gibbs busy at work creating little "Toad Houses" and "Yoshi Eggs" as he calls his clay creations as of late.  One day when I had some catching up to do in the office, I set him up with some clay at the kitchen table, and found him about an hour later with clay up his arms and a giant "Yoshi Egg" colony spread across our kitchen table.  I carefully moved the eggs to the counter so we could use our table, but they stayed on the counter for quite some time as I couldn't bare to move such an adorably beautiful creation!  These Toad houses are some that Gibbs and Lu made together the next time they got the play dough out.

At the end of the semester, and the day after an excruciating test, Matt had his birthday!  We happily celebrated this terrific man with some exquisite cake and food.  We gave him a few gifts- but the best gift was a pass on that horrendous test!

A trip to Nevada to see family and spend some quality time in Grandma and Grandpa's tree house!
This tree house was actually built last summer on a tree that seemed nearly dead- this year it has sprung to life with an abundance of leaves!  It sure made for quite the secret hide out!

After our trip to Nevada, Matt and I were able to get away for a few days to celebrate 10 wonderful years of marriage!

While it wasn't what we had originally planned (a trip to romantic Paris) for our 10 year celebration- or even our next pick (a week in southern California, on the beach) we were thrilled to have some time together, just the two of us.

A beautiful hike, some fishing, and quality time together.
Plenty of raspberry shakes, as they are a trademark of Bear Lake, where we visited, dinner at Paris Cafe :)  chocolate dipped raspberries- amazingly delicious.
Some rest and relaxation, just being us.  I really can't say enough that it was so wonderful.

At the lookout at the top of the mountain before venturing down toward Garden City and Bear Lake, there is a little hummingbird feeder.

These adorably amazing little creatures were so fun to watch!  This first one would watch the feeder, and when the others were coming around to eat, he would come after them, protecting "his territory".  Then they would all fly super high into the air, and dive bomb down, again and again.

After our couple of days together, just Matt and I, the kids came to join us with my brother and sister.  While we loved our time- just the two of us- we were still so very thrilled to be with our little's again.  We planned a day at the lake where we collected tiny shells, skipped rocks, swam, and dug in the dirt, until a storm began to roll in.

Now that our whirlwind has died down, we are ready to hit summer- full swing!!
